NEWS 6 - Doctors have successfully separated conjoined twins in China!

The twin sisters were born on October 30th last year in China. They were born with abdominal skin joined from their chest to their navels and also had two connecter livers. Doctors have successfully separated conjoined twins at China's southwest hospital the last week. The operation was for five hours approximately. They are in the intesive care units to recover from the sugery. This case of birth is very unusual considering that it occurs one every 200.000 live births and about 70% are female. It believes that conjoined twins develop from a single fertilised egg that fails to separate completely as it divides.

OPINION

I really love this kind of news. First of all, because facts like this suggery make me happy because it means that we're making a lot of progress in this century given that few years ago this kind of problems were more complicated to solutionate than nowadays. And, secondly because if the doctors weren't been able to do this sophisticated surgey, life of these twin sisters would have been very limited

I think this invention is very useful because there are a lot of people who suffers snoring but if it will be cheaper, more people could use it and will became more popular. NEWS 4 - How a doctor’s words can make you ill

Have you ever visited a doctor, and come away feeling they weren’t much help? 

Experiments have shown that simply warning people about certain side effects can actually make them more likely to experience the nausea, fatigue, headaches or diarrhoea. Even when they have been assigned innocuous pills rather than an active drug.

In extreme circumstances it could even be deadly, as we recently explored in our article “The contagious thought that could kill you”.  

One study found that depressed patients given placebo pills by an empathetic doctor ended up with better results than those taking an active drug from a psychiatrist who seemed less concerned about their welfare.

The turth is that our doctors should be aware that they are manipulating health of people. In my opinion, our health is the most important aspect in our lifes, and they doesn't have to alarms their patients with possible side effects in view of the fact that it probably  will not happens.  Considering that it is showed that the health state can help, in some cases, improve the disease

NEWS 3 - The truth about baldness

A lot of men, exactly,two out of every three men will begin balding at sixties. Although it seems impossible, they may be turned down for executive positions in their careers.

This news was published last month in the Journal of Clinical Investigation could be the key to reversing hair thinning and baldness. 

Recent research suggests that the most common type of hair loss, male pattern baldness, can be triggered by faulty hair-making progenitor cells in the scalp. Researchers believed that men whose hair progressively things starting with a receding hairline, Rather, it appears that the cells are merely unable to complete their normal development and mature to a fully functioning state. Other potential contributors to hair loss include illness, age, genetics, and even primping habits

The bald truth is that hair loss men who have a bald father are more likely to develop male pattern baldness than those who don't. Besides, if your hair is balding don't mean that you're old because hair loss can strike in the teens and is common among twenty and thirty years old. But, also the earlier it begins, the more severe it will likely become. It can accelerate balding. Rapid shifts in weight whether pounds are gained or lost can also contribute to the likelihood of hair loss.

At first when I saw this news, I laughed a little bit because I think it doesn't matter if you're bald.  I don't give any importance of  men's bald spoot. As well as I think bald men are very attractive, if and when, they're being all bald. In spite, most of them don't want to be bald men. On the one hand, be a bald man have disadvantages as the text explain in the beginning  but also have advantages like they doesn't have to comb his hair!

One friend sent me the song's tittle and she said me: listen it, I'm sure your like it!! And that's the reason why I discovered it. This song tells that he don't wanna wait for something might not happens. Is about always being told what to do and if we step out we're penalized.

Moreover, I became SOJA's fan because I like their thoughts and the way they see the world. As well as I think they try to make it better and their music is about finding that happiness and peace we all deserve..

On the other hand, in this kind of songs what I like and catch me is the song's rhythm. I love it because is so slowly but also have something that makes you can't stop to listening it! 

NEWS 2 - New comic for blind children

Jorge Grajales Bernardo Fernandez, a mexican writer has created a comic for blind children, The tittle's comic is "Senses the Universe of his eyes" and it's about the adventures of an astronaut who crash lands on a planet inhabited by creatures with no eyes. The astronaut loses his sight, but aliens around him teach him how to see the world using other senses. Evidently, it's written in BRAILLE. Besides, this comic will be sold for two dolars!!

OPINION

I thought there were many books by this way (with braille script), but if it's not true, I think the author has done a great work doing this comic. Besides, it is very cheap and tells a lovely story about how to live with this disadvantage. Is an important aspect to consider to creating more books for blind people because, even though they are blind, they have the right to read too! In my opinion, more books like this are necessary in the society. If I were blind, I will higly appreciatte that people like him will write books for people with an impairment. 

NEWS 1 - Living in towns without night

You could live without or with too much sunlight? What would it be like to live in 24 hour sunlight or to the contrary, complete darkness? 

Truly the rising and setting of the sun controls our daily, from when we  wake up and eat breakfast in the morning to when we wind down and go to sleep at night. But what happens to us if the sun never rises? Or if it never sets? 

It’s an annual occurrence for residents who live in or near the Arctic Circle, when summer can bring months of almost constant sun and winter can blend into one long period of darkness. To find out, a group of journalists have traveled around the world to ask residents of these countries how is the life in this way. 

Well, the journalists asking they “What is it like to live in places with 24 hours of complete daylight or darkness?” and the respondents found advantatges and againsts to sacrificing the sun or the stars for few months each year.

For me, the climb control, to some extent, my personality and my humour because I'm feeling better if the wether is clear and sunny and when it's raining, I'm feeling sad and so tired... Personally, I think I could live by this way only when it's sunlight day. Or rader I

couldn't live in town without day but I wouldn't have any problem to live with to much light. But I find it very hard to be at two or three a.m  with my friends and the sun shining above us

Skype with Noa!

Two weeks ago we met with Noa at skype and it was really nice!!! 

Well, Sonia was Noa's English teacher the last year and she thought Noa might could be connect us one day and explain us her experience in Australia. She is there since August 2014 making her GAP YEAR as aupair at Melbourne, the second most populous city in Australia. 

All second of bat joined together and we connected with by skype and she was really nice with us. She told us that these months she has gone to a lot of places and has visited a lot of important monuments and sites! She is also very tanned because she is enjoying the summer since the last June. 

In spite of, thanks got she comes back the next weekend and finally we will spend time together because skype is really nice for a few weeks but I prefer to see she face to face!

  I really miss my friend :) 

It is blue and black or white and gold?

Today I want to talk about the famous blue and black dress! Although it may seem impossible, this dress last week was the hero for the day for many of us. 

Well, even came out to the TV news. Internet networks went full of dress blue and black or white and gold. Approximately half of the population sees blue and black and the half white and gold.  In my case, at first when I saw the picture in a social network that I use daily, Instagram, I clearly see a white dress with golden stripes. What made me mad was my parents answer; they told me that they saw the dress of blue and black; I could not believe it.

My WhatsApp kept vibrating. Suddenly all my friends began to discuss this dress! Everyone wanted to be right, was something inexplicable! Hours later, costume designer showed up and stated that the original dress was blue and black but in the photo, you can see the two different ways. Hours later, changing perspective of photography, I got to see the dress of blue and black

Self-evaluation

Few years ago we must did a presentation about our research project. Personally, I did it about nicknames of Castelló d'Empúries, my village. It was very hard found all the information but in the end it will be worth it. Now I will do my self-evaluation about this oral presentation!

LANGUAGE 20% I think my language was well and I've learned many key words like antropology, nickname, toponymy...  7

PRESENTATION 10% In my point of view, my prezi was very well structured and it was very nice too 8

BODY LANGUAGE AND EYE CONTACT 10% This is the worst aspect; sometimes I was nervous and then always speak too much fast. As well as every oral presentation I touch my hair too much but I am try to correct it! The next time I think I will wear my hear in a ponytail! 5

STRUCTURE 10% I structured very well my power point. First of all I told about why I chose this topic, and later I told about the objectives, the methodology and finally my conclusion's project 9

PRONUNCIATION 10% I believe my pronunciation sometimes is not perfect but this year i'm trying to improve my English level 8

CONTENT 40% The content was complete because I put there the most important parts of my project. There were the objectives, the methodology and the final conclusions 9

Research paper abstract

My research Project is about the nicknames of my village, Castelló d’Empúries. My objectives when I proposed to do the Project were five. The first one was to study the Onomastics, the science of names. Inside this section, to study the two branches; toponymy and antroponymy. Besides, to explain other aspects associated to the antroponymy like the etymology or stadistics.. Up to here,for my theoretical part. For my practical part, I wanted to do a search to find all the family’s nicknames. With the complete list I made a classification depending on the origin of the nicknames. The origin could be the family's job, the place where they live, any personal characteristic and others. The following objective was to analize  the most important and unusual names to know about Castello people's psychology. When I talk about psychology I allude to what are the aspects that these people use when assign the nicknames, if they pay more attention to the job or the place where they are…

Christmas have arrived!

Hello and happy Christmas to everyone! Today it's 25th of December and it's a very special day for me because today I will see all my family. Include all my mother's family from Barcelona and  I am very nervous to meet they. Also my father's sister, her husband and they children come too, but I meet with them more often because they live near us and so that's why It's more normal for me to meet they than my family from Barcelona!

Every year for Christmas we make a lunch meeting, we make the most of this and we tell each other all the news we don't know! Evidently, the presents must be there and after lunch we sit down in the sitting room, and we open it :) 

Then, we sing the customary Christmas carols together and have fun all the afternoon. So, that's all until the next year!
